Chetウイルスは、2001年9月11日にアメリカ合衆国ニューヨークなどで起きた同時多発テロに、この時期人々が注目することに便乗した悪質なウイルスです。「アメリカとテロ組織の間にあった密約の証拠写真と文章」と称したファイル（11september.exe）がメールに添付されており、実行するとウイルスに感染します。感染すると、パソコン内のメールアドレスに対して、次々に自身を添付したウイルスメールを送信します。
このウイルスにはバグがあるため、多くのパソコンでは発病しません。しかし、今後バグを直したものや、改良された亜種などが出る可能性もあるので注意が必要です。お使いのウイルス対策ソフトが、最新のウイルス定義ファイルにアップデートされていることをお使いのセキュリティ・センターでご確認ください。
