NOTE
This User Manual is for both Windows and Mac.
The screenshots of Pocketalk subtitles used in this manual are Windows, but the configuration of each screen is the same for Mac unless otherwise noted.
Installation
“Pocketalk subtitles” is used by installing a dedicated program on your computer. You can also use it by linking it to your Pocketalk.
Preparation
- Computer
- Web camera*
* If your computer is equipped with a camera, you do not need to prepare it separately.
Installing
Download the installer on the computer where you will be using Pocketalk subtitles
An email with the program download link will be sent to the email address you entered in the entry form.Run the downloaded installer
Follow the instructions and install the application.NOTE
Install Microsoft Visual Studio C++ 2019 Redistributable Package (x86) and (x64) if a message instructing you to do so appears (Windows only).

Translating on a computer
Using Pocketalk subtitles (1/3)
Launch the installed Pocketalk subtitles
Choose the translation languages
Translation will be done in the direction of the arrow.
NOTE
You can translate up to two languages at the same time, such as translation from English to Spanish and Chinese.

Using teleconference services (2/3)
Joining a teleconference with a computer
NOTE
If you join a teleconference with a web browser, you may not be able to use Pocketalk subtitles depending on the teleconference service. In this case, use a desktop version of your desired teleconference service.
On the camera settings of your teleconference service, select [Pocketalk Subtitles]
Confirm that the “POCKETALK” logo appears on your camera image.
Translating (3/3)
Speak into your computer's microphone while holding down the Pocketalk subtitle’s [Talk while pressing the talk button] or hold down the spacebar on your keyboard (release the button or spacebar when you are finished speaking)
The translations of the words you spoke will be displayed on your camera image as subtitles.
NOTE
- Click
on the Home screen of Pocketalk subtitle to type in the translation text instead of speaking.
- You can also translate by linking it to your Pocketalk.
Translating with Pocketalk
Exit Pocketalk subtitles
Pocketalk subtitles keeps running as a resident software even if you close the settings screen (Windows only).
To end Pocketalk subtitles, follow the steps below.
- Windows: right click
on the task bar and select [Exit].
- Mac: click
on the title bar.

For Windows, if you cannot find on the task bar, click

Translating with Pocketalk
Using Pocketalk subtitles and Pocketalk (1/3)
Launch the installed Pocketalk subtitles
Tap
-
[Settings] - [Screen sharing] on Pocketalk
On the Pocketalk [Screen sharing] screen, tap [OFF
] and then [ON
]
[Screen sharing] is valid for three hours after it has been turned [ON
].
NOTE
You can use [Screen sharing] until it is turned [OFF
] by tapping
on [Discard the displayed content in 3 hours] (icon changes to
).
Enter the [Shared number] and [Password] displayed on the Pocketalk [Screen sharing] screen to the installed Pocketalk subtitles and click [Connect]

Click [Use Pocketalk] and fill in the displayed fields.
If a message shows that the connection was successful, connection is complete.
Using teleconference services (2/3)
Joining a teleconference with a computer

If you join a teleconference with a web browser, you may not be able to use Pocketalk subtitles depending on the teleconference service. In this case, use a desktop version of your desired teleconference service.
On the camera settings of your teleconference service, select [Pocketalk Subtitles]
Confirm that the “POCKETALK” logo appears on your camera image.
Translating (3/3)
Press and hold
The translations of the words you spoke will be displayed on your camera image as subtitles.and speak to the unit when you hear a beep sound (release your finger from the button when you are finished speaking)
NOTE
You can also translate without using Pocketalk by voice input from the microphone of your computer, or text input using your keyboard.Translating on a computer

To end Pocketalk subtitles, follow the steps below.
- Windows: right click
on the task bar and select [Exit].
- Mac: click
on the title bar.

I want to translate into two languages
You can translate into two languages such as Spanish and Chinese at the same time.
Select [Full-page (two languages)] in - [Subtitles] - [Show subtitles] and you can select two translation languages in the Pocketalk subtiltes.
To return to the Home sceen of Pocketalk subtitles, follow the steps below.
- Windows: click
on the upper right corner of the screen.
- Mac: click
on the title bar.
NOTE
[Full-page (two languages)] can only be used when you are inputting from the microphone of your computer.
The camera image or subtitle display is slow
This may improve by reducing the camera image size of Pocketalk subtitles.
You can change the display size in the Pocketalk subtitles - [Video settings] - [Resolution].
To return to the Home sceen of Pocketalk subtitles, follow the steps below.
- Windows: click
on the upper right corner of the screen.
- Mac: click
on the title bar.
I want to change the display position of subtitles
You can change the display position of subtitles.
You can change the position in the Pocketalk subtitles - [Subtitles] - [Show subtitles].
To return to the Home sceen of Pocketalk subtitles, follow the steps below.
- Windows: click
on the upper right corner of the screen.
- Mac: click
on the title bar.
NOTE
For Windows, you can also change the display speed of the subtitle input text: [Displaying speed of subtitles]
I want to change the display language of the Pocketalk subtitles (software)
You can change the language in the Pocketalk subtitles - [General settings] - [Language].
To return to the Home sceen of Pocketalk subtitles, follow the steps below.
- Windows: click
on the upper right corner of the screen.
- Mac: click
on the title bar.
I want to hide subtitles
Switch the camera setting of your teleconference service to the camera of your computer, or end Pocketalk subtitles.
I cannot display the camera image of Pocketalk subtitles on my teleconference service (Windows only)
Pocketalk subtitles may not have started, or the teleconference service may have started before Pocketalk subtitles.
Follow the below steps and this may be improved.
- Close the teleconference service that could not display the Pocketalk subtitles camera image (if you also have Pocketalk subtitles running, end this as well).
NOTE
If you are using a teleconference service on your web browser, close the entire web browser and not just the tabs or windows.
- Start Pocketalk subtitles.
Confirm that the camera image is displayed in Pocketalk subtitles.
- Start the teleconference service where you want to use Pocketalk subtitles.
Choose [Pocketalk Subtitles] in the camera settings of your teleconference service and confirm that the camera image of Pocketalk subtitles is displayed.
NOTE
You can reduce such troubles by setting Pocketalk subtitles to start when you start your computer.
Check [Start up automatically when the PC is turned on] under - [General], and Pocektalk susbtitles will start before your teleconference service.
